  Exporting midi project question?
Posted by: jaylinux - 10-29-2011, 05:20 AM - Forum: Getting Help - Replies (3)

Hi, I'm new to MusE and cant get it to work on my system for now. But before i get into debugging I'd like to know if i can export midi projects with a tempo track to Cubase 5? Will all the tempo change export to Cubase? MusE will probably be useless for me if it cant so I'd like to know before i spend much time figuring out linux and audio etc...

MusE looks really nice BTW. I'll probably learn it in the future anyway since it feel very familiar to me and would like to learn the linux platform in the future.

Hi dear forum users.
As this forum from time to time has been ridden with spam I changed it so posting can only be done when logged in.
Sorry about this, I would have liked to keep it open. The benefit is that we can easier get in touch with people that post issues... and less spam of course.

  problem synchro
Posted by: protein kyn - 10-03-2011, 08:43 PM - Forum: Getting Help - Replies (1)

I use muse 1.0.1 and I have a problem of synchro with JACK. In settings/MIDI sync "use Jack transport" is OK but no synchro with hydrogen for example.

Thanks for your answer.

Help Installing Muse 2 on Ubuntu 11
Posted by: JoeTurtle - 09-27-2011, 01:20 AM - Forum: Getting Help - Replies (4)

So I open the instructions, and I get this:

# Create build directory. Choose any name like 'build'.
mkdir build
# Enter build directory.
cd build

# Create make system in the build directory.
# Optional <Prefix> is the location to install MusE, default /usr/local.
# Build type can be blank (to reset a previous cached type to 'empty'),
# debug, release, RelWithDebInfo and MinSizeRel.
# If no CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE is given at all, cmake uses either the previous
# cached value, or else 'empty' (plain unoptimized).
# ('Release' type is recommended, otherwise it builds a plain unoptimized program.)
cmake -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=release [-DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=<prefix>] ../

# Compile muse

I'm an absolute beginner at installing and compiling software...heck, I'm even new at the Ubuntu operating system. (But I'm much better than I used to be!) I read through the directions, but can't figure out how to "create make system in the build directory". I don't know if I need to type something into the terminal, or what...as it doesn't really say. And then the " cmake -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=release [-DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=<prefix>] ../" step confuses me as well. Thanks for any help!

  inserting an effect
Posted by: jp_no9 - 09-20-2011, 05:36 PM - Forum: Getting Help - Replies (4)

What is the best way to insert an external fx on a track ? For example Guitarix. Is it mandatory to create an input track + an output track + make the connections with Jack ? Nothing more simple ?
And, other than that, when will you remove the spam from the forum ?

  MusE quits with error
Posted by: Judas - 09-04-2011, 01:24 AM - Forum: Getting Help - Replies (1)

Whenever I try to start MusE, It comes up with the error that it can't find a JACK server and will run with the -a option (no audio), and will then close immediately. Problem is, it's doing this even when JACK *is* running. Still does it under ASLA as well.

I'm running Linux Mint 11 64-bit on a Dell Studio laptop, and attempting to run version 1.1

  Specify 64 Bit Installation Directory
Posted by: tpreitzel - 06-26-2011, 06:09 AM - Forum: Getting Help - Replies (7)

Robert, et al:

Thanks for the newly reworked MusE for QT4! I've been waiting. <!-- sWink --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt="Wink" title="Wink" /><!-- sWink -->

BTW, how does one change the installation directory for the libraries using cmake?

I tried to specify the option -DLIB_SUFFIX=64 to cmake, but the libraries are ALWAYS installed to /usr/lib instead of /usr/lib64 ... Obviously, I'm doing something wrong.

  Muse cannot connect to Jack
Posted by: Jam - 05-17-2011, 01:02 AM - Forum: Getting Help - Replies (5)

got a strange problem with Muse and Jack. When I try to start Muse1.1 it gives me the error-message:
"MusE failed to find a Jack audio server.
MusE will continue without audio support (-a switch)!
If this was not intended check that Jack was started. If Jack was started check that it was started as the same user as MusE."

But: Jack is started, and both, Jack and MusE are started normal, so yes, both as the same user.

If I start MusE from a terminal there comes the message:

"~$ muse
Denormal protection enabled.
no message buffer overruns
no message buffer overruns
unknown option character l
cannot connect to jack server
cannot create jack client"

Everything else I tested (abmdec, ardour, zynaddsubfx) run well with jack (at least until the moment the system crashed because of the muse-problem).

I use UbuntuStudio 11.04 and the lowlatency kernel (by Alessio Bogani). MusE1.1 is part of the Ubuntu-Studio-repositorie.

Anybody got an idea?
