The main myth about music software

For some unknown reason, some musicians and sound engineers claim that certain DAWs are equipped with a cooler and better sound engine. This myth can be found in discussions of almost any music recording software: there is always a user who proves that Pro Tools / Logic Pro X / Cockos Reaper sounds better than other DAWs.

Where this myth came from is unknown, but such speculation about the exclusivity of a particular digital workstation is nothing more than an attempt to amuse one’s own vanity. From the point of view of sound, programs for recording music have no difference between themselves, and even more so they cannot affect the final sound of the tracks. The sound of the music is influenced by the equipment, effects and plugins used, but not by the DAW itself.

The best DAW is the one that is comfortable to work with.

Digital workstations are based on the same operating principles. This applies to both audio playback and sound recording capabilities and signal processing features. For this reason, it is foolish to label the best and the worst – everything is too subjective.
