What you need to know before choosing a music recording software

Any DAW is a software package consisting of a main application and a set of additional components: plug-ins, virtual instruments, loops, samples and other audio content. Regardless, choosing a music recording software should not rely on the quantity or even quality of the plugins. The main thing here is the capabilities of the DAW itself.

Plugins can always be purchased or downloaded separately – there are plenty of solutions from different developers. What you can’t buy in addition is the capabilities of the digital workstation itself.

Before making the final choice, read user reviews about the programs you like. Pay attention to common problems that users point out, find out what they are not happy with in a particular DAW. At the same time, do not take comments for truth – sometimes the opinion of especially impressionable and emotional musicians differs from reality.

After reading the reviews, go to the developer site. Each DAW has a fully functional demo version that can be used without any restrictions from 2 weeks to a month. Try the program yourself, study its features, understand how it works and check the compatibility of the software with your hardware.
